Affiliations: Death Eaters Views of Voldemort: Although Rodolphus and Rabastan weren’t the first fans of Voldemort in their family, they quickly aligned themselves with the Dark Lord. Along with his wife, Rod was one of the Dark Lord's most loyal followers. Now he doesn’t trust Voldemort and is considered a traitor. History: Of course it was no surprise to Rodolphus when he received his Hogwarts letter; but he was still thrilled all the same. All of the Lestranges had been sorted into Slytherin; and naturally, Rodolphus continued the chain. It was at school he met multiple students that would become Death Eaters. Among these students he found the lust/love of his life, Bellatrix Black. During school they were near inseparable. The two married almost immediately after completing their seventh year. It was Rodolphus who took the first initiative to serve the Dark Lord, and he was jubilant when his wife did the same. When Rod heard Voldemort's perspective on Muggles and the Wizarding world, it was like hearing his own thoughts. He immediately recognized that Voldemort was incredibly powerful, and was the only wizard capable of changing the world. Every task the Dark Lord assigned Rod, he did it proudly. Being a man that had very few morals, it was always easy to complete the tasks. Coming from a rich family with many connections, Rodolphus schmoozed with various high power people in order to maintain a 'normal life' to conceal his dark one. He was even on a name to name basis with the Minister of Magic himself. It was not uncommon for Rod to travel abroad at various times. Often he would return from the trips with sacks of jewels and galleons, which were almost always put in their vault at Gringotts. His multiple trips to the bank resulted in even being known amongst goblins; of course they were never particularly fond of him. When the Dark Lord failed to return from Godric's Hallow in 1981, Rod took the news badly by denying the end of the greatest wizard. He refused to believe Voldemort was dead and instead began searching for him, along with other Death Eaters. In December, Rodolphus, Bellatrix, Rabastan, and Barty tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom in order to discover the whereabouts of Voldemort. The act resulted in all of them being sent to Azkaban. Luckily the Ministry was unable to convict him of other crimes, so he was stuck in a cell until January 1996; of course he was meant to rot in Azkaban. Thankful to the Dark Lord and ecstatic that he's still alive, Rodolphus continued to happily serve. Until the final battle, the Lestranges had to stay hidden, for they were still wanted criminals. Of course he was not entirely happy with the situation. Each day he saw more of his wife, and her sanity, slip away from him. Before they went to Azkaban, Rodolphus suspected Bellatrix felt more for the Dark Lord than just admiration. Once they escaped prison and Bella’s sanity was nearly gone, it was far more obvious to him. His love lost, Rodolphus’ anger fueled his fighting at the final battle. He didn’t care who he killed, student or Order member. While he could have simply killed every enemy he came across, Rodolphus chose to Imperius the occasional unfortunate soul. For a moment his gaze lingered on Bellatrix with her psychotic smile and how the green light from her wand made her look more radiant than ever.
